There are a set of steps in front of County Hall in Norwich where people gather to eat their lunch, mainly street food bought from the colourful market just below. I have taken many street photographs there. The pigeons and gulls gather there to pick up food scraps. I wanted to get a picture of this pigeon waiting for a meal opportunity, but with the view of Norwich behind to give a sense of the location. The scene shows the iconic market and Norwich Castle in the background. A focal length of f

Photo of my wife walking our dog at the Food Museum, Stowmarket, with Eastbridge Wind Pump in the background. The wind pump dates from the 19th Century and was used to drain the land at Minsmere Levels near Leiston, Suffolk. It was relocated to the museum and restored in 1977. On 10 September 2023, I ventured out early before sunrise to try & capture the recently discovered comet Nishimura (C/2023 P1). Unfortunately, the glow of the pre-dawn sun washed out the possibility of seeing the comet, which was due to be just above the horizon. In this shot, taken at 5:15am, the crescent Moon is framed at the top of the shot with Venus below. The Suffolk countryside makes the silhouetted horizon. The two red lights on the horizon come from the top of the Mendlesham transmitte

I took this photo after work on the night of Friday 5-10-24. I was seeing posts about people seeing the northern lights as low as Oklahoma. I went home and grabbed my camera and equipment and went to Vancouver Lake not sure if I could capture anything. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to capture photos. This is just one of many pleasant surprises from that evening, enjoy.

Photo of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) taken on New Brighton promenade on Friday 10th May 2024 (around 11:53pm) - the night when the Northern Lights was visible from much of the UK.I'd be thinking of heading out to try and catch a photo of the Northern Lights for the past few weeks as had seen notifications on various apps and on Facebook that there might be a chance of seeing them. I finally decided to go out and see if I could see them on that evening, and I was extremely lucky tha

I started taking my son to RIAT in 2008 when he was just six years old. He had to follow Dad, and would be seen armed with my old Canon 350D. I was using a Canon 40D and Canon 100-400mm L series lens at the time.RIAT is wholly dependant upon the right weather for good photography. Cloud too low - display routines are changed. Too much cloud and rain - the background is too grey. The weather can also be too good, leaving bright blue, but boring backgrounds. Thankfully July 18, 2009 provided goo

Knowing there was a high chance of seeing the aurora borealis, I left work early on Friday, May 10. First, I stopped at my local camera store to buy a new lens I had been dreaming about (14-24mm f2.8). Then I drove to Minnesota to meet up with another photographer. By 1am, we found ourselves by this lake. I often found myself admiring the aurora and not taking pictures. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
